Mill Pond Park
Over six million gallons of artisanal spring water flows over the falls in Mill Pond Park daily. The three-acre park features waterfalls, a sandy beach, swimming hole, pavilion, athletic courts, picnic areas, two miles of walking trails, the San Saba County Historical Museum and the San Saba Civic Center. Mill Pond is the center of community events like farmer’s markets, kayaking, July 4th fireworks, Splash Day on Memorial Day weekend, and the San Saba Christmas Extravaganza which boasts over one million dancing lights.

Regency Bridge
Commonly known as the “Swinging Bridge,” the Regency Bridge is the last working vehicular suspension bridge in Texas. Spanning the Colorado River between San Saba and Mills counties, the bridge was built in 1939 after the original collapsed in 1924. The one-lane wooden deck was built 90 percent by hand labor. Afterward, townspeople gathered around the bridge site often meeting in the evenings for song and dance. It’s a great photo op and downright cool!

Risien Park
Risien Park is a gift from E. Guy Risien, the son of E.E. Risien, who cultivated all the pecans that San Saba and much of the rest of the United States uses. Working with the LCRA, the 80-acre park has been outfitted into a beautiful public use space. Bordered by the San Saba River, the park offers walking trails through magnificent pecan groves, lush trees, picnic sites, grills, pavilion, and a stone amphitheater. Risien Park hosts the annual Catkins Ball fundraiser, in addition to weddings and other events.

Wedding Oak Tree
Wedding Oak Tree sits just outside of town. Legend has it that this ancient oak was a revered location for Indian marriage ceremonies. The tree has endured just like eternal love. Soon after arrival, early settlers adopted the tradition. In fact, it is still a popular wedding venue today! Listed among the historic trees of Texas, it’s a great bike ride away from town, a place for a photo op or a romantic serenade for your sweetheart!

San Saba River Golf Course
San Saba’s 18-hole municipal golf course is widely revered for its challenging play and spectacular beauty. The San Saba River Golf Course has been voted one of the best places to play six years running by Golf Digest (and earned a 3.5-star rating). The course plays through a forest of 2,600 pecan trees with tight fairways and several ponds making the course challenging.

County Courthouse
One of the few Texas courthouses with a statement carved over its entrance, the beautiful courthouse promises, “From the people to the people” and is seen by locals as the heart of the county. The courthouse, characterized by its Classical Revival-style architecture, stands proudly over downtown San Saba. Constructed of brick and sandstone, the 109-year-old courthouse features classical elements like a domed clock tower, ionic capitals, two-story columns, and dentate cornices.
