This weekend is our big Christmas celebration and we’re just brimming with yuletide joy. Here are the happenings – we hope that you can share in our Christmas cheer!
Sip N’ Stroll
This Saturday is one of our favorite events of the year – our annual Sip N’ Stroll. The renowned wine tasting event starts at 2 p.m. and runs through 6 p.m. A number of visiting Hill Country wineries join forces with San Saba’s own Wedding Oak Winery and Old Man Scary Cellars to pour delicious Texas wine samples. Stroll through San Saba’s downtown snack, sip, shop and be merry in great shops like Harry’s Boots, J.C. Campbell & Co. Mercantile, Alamo Pecan & Coffee, Evertt’s housed in seven businesses will pour wine and serve snacks. Tickets ($20) are going fast and include a wine glass and 10 taste pours. Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite or in person at Everett’s Furniture Emporium (310 E. Commerce) or Wedding Oak Winery. Participating wineries include:
Red Wing Dove Vineyard & Winery (Everett’s Furniture)
Texas Legato Winery (JC Campbell & Co. Mercantile)
Spirit of Texas Winery and Vineyard (Madeleine & Me)
Flat Creek Estate Winery (Alamo Pecan)
Brennan Vineyards (San Saba Olive Oil)
Torr Na Lochs Vineyard & Winery (Oliver & Co.)
Lit since Thanksgiving, San Saba’s Christmas Park Extravaganza is back in all its twinkling glory. The must-see light display sprawls across 10 acres with more than 10 million dancing lights (the lights dance with a curated list of Christmas carols which broadcasts over 88.7 FM). The park opens at dusk and closes at 10 p.m.
Carols and Parades
The spirit doesn’t end with the Sip ‘n Stroll. San Saba’s annual Christmas Concert fills the square with carols from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Enjoy the strains of holiday favorites at the beautiful historic courthouse square for this annual event presented by the River City Band. The Christmas Parade starts rolling after the Christmas concert. Sip wine or craft brew as tractors, trailers and all manner of transport transform into a rolling Christmas themed show.
Take the kiddos to meet Santa at his Workshop in the Estep-Burleson Plaza. Mrs. Claus will have cookies and ornaments to decorate. Small gifts and light refreshments like hot cocoa and cookies will be available. Santa’s Workshop is open for play from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
So hit the road and head to the top of the hill country to kick off a fabulous holiday season!! Cheers and Merry Christmas, y’all.
