Old Man Scary Cellars opened in 2015, restoring a beautiful 1924 historic building in San Saba, Texas, repurposed to house a retail tasting room and winery production facility. Old Man Scary was incubated through Wedding Oak Winery, who bought the building and entered into a partnership with the Hisel family. Award-winning winemaker, Penny Adams, oversees the wine production for Old Man Scary Cellars, making wines from grapes harvested in Texas vineyards. The Hisel family loves to tell stories and the name Old Man Scary Cellars originates from the Hisel Family Estate in Hockley County, Texas, where lies an old, abandoned farmhouse. Old Man Scary is the name given to that house by the youngest son of the family due to the belief that it was haunted. Old Man Scary offers a wine club, as well as wine tasting, live music and other events that have already added to the growing food and wine presence in San Saba, Texas.
